West Brom end association with Pardew

Alan Pardew has left West Bromwich Albion by mutual consent after failing to overturn the club’s fortunes over the past four months.

The 56-year-old suceeded Tony Pulis as the Baggies head coach in late November, and managed just one victory in 18 league matches.

West Brom confirmed the decision via a club statement, which read: “The club would like to thank Alan and John for their efforts and wish them well in their future endeavours.”

With Pardew and John Carver having departed, the club have placed first-team coach Darren Moore on temporary charge with a view to finding a quick replacement.

Regardless of the decision, the Baggies face an almost impossible task of beating the drop, having fallen 10 points behind safety with just six matches left.

To make things worse, they have to contend with games against Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, and this may realistically end their eight-year stint in the top-flight.
