Arsenal are “confident” of completing a deal to sign Malcom from Bordeaux this month, sparking fresh claims of a move to Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in the British regional media.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Gunners are closing in on the signature of the 20-year-old Brazilian as they seek a replacement for Sanchez before potentially allowing him to leave this month.
The same report says that Manchester United have cooled their interest in singing Malcom and that the player himself is anticipating a move to the Premier League.
The story says that Malcom’s “likely” arrival at The Emirates this month could pave the way for Sanchez to move to Manchester City or Manchester United.
The article also claims that Sanchez himself is “desperate” to try and secure a transfer away from Arsenal before the deadline on 31 January.
Sanchez’s future at Arsenal remains a constant source of speculation after he entered into the final few months of his contract at The Emirates.
The 29-year-old has been relentlessly linked with a move away from Arsenal in recent months but there is yet to be any resolution to his future situation.
Arsenal are preparing for their trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
