However, their crown as Europe’s best-supported team is at risk this season with news that fans are planning to boycott their upcoming game against Augsburg.
Dortmund fans are planning to stay clear of their February 26 fixture because it is being played on a Monday night.
The match is due to kick-off at 8:30pm local time and the many fans have criticised the ‘absurd’ scheduling — which has come about due to Dortmund’s participation in the Europa League.
The club’s ultras are calling on fellow supporters to boycott the contest.
A statement read: “We will no longer play along to the absurd development of kick-off times.
“We’ve reached a point where we’ve ultimately gone beyond what’s acceptable.
“Several groups and fan clubs who’ve been at every BVB home match at the Westfalenstadion will not attend the Monday night game.
