David Luiz has suffered a knee injury and will miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Swansea City, although the champions could welcome back to action Victor Moses on Wednesday night.

Luiz was dropped by Chelsea coach Antonio Conte for the visit of Manchester United earlier this month after the defender is believed to have questioned the Italian’s tactics in the 3-0 Champions League loss away to Roma.

Luiz only made the bench for Chelsea’s next league game, a 4-0 win against West Brom at the Hawthorns, but did play the entirety of the Champions League away match against Qarabag.

However, he was back on the bench at Anfield on Saturday as Chelsea drew 1-1 with Liverpool and could now be set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury.

Conte confirmed the injury at a press conference on Tuesday, but said it was “very difficult” for him to say whether the issue is a long-standing one or a recent one and revealed Luiz will be assessed by club doctors to determine how long he will be out of action for.
