Europa League winners Man Utd have registered interest for Newell’s Old Boys’ teenage sensation Luciano Cingolani, the Argentine club confirmed.
The wonder-kid Cingolani, is currently starring for the Rosario side’s Septima (Under-16) team, helping them to four wins in their opening six games. The youngster hasn’t yet made it to the main team but is developing swiftly and is considered to make a move in the coming years.
The 16-year-old’s form has brought Premier League giants United to monitor him and show interest as they continue to scout him. Newell’s Old Boys’ academy coordinator Martin Mackey confirmed the news to Zapping Sport and said they club got in touch but hasn’t made a proposal yet.
“Manchester United have shown interest in Luciano Cingolani. When they got in touch, we wanted them to say what type of proposal they had in mind and none has reached me,” said Mackey.
Cingolani is considered to be a special talent and Mackey does not want him to leave the club even if a big teams as that of Manchester United come calling.
“When that happens the board of directors will analyse it and will then take the decision they deem necessary. But I do not want him to leave either.”
The academy coordinator remained in a bullish mood by adding he would oppose any sale of his young players making a mark in the side.
