Antonio Conte has followed Jose Mourinho‘s lead by saying he will put a “stop” to the pair’s feud.

Conte and Mourinho have been involved in a war of words, which began after the Chelsea coach took exception to the Manchester United manager’s comments regarding acting like a “clown” on the touchline, a remark perceived to be aimed at Conte and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Mourinho reacted by bringing up the match-fixing scandal that Conte was caught up in during his time in Italy, but fully cleared of, before the Chelsea boss labelled his United counterpart a “little man”.

Mourinho had his chance to respond to Conte’s scathing comments on Friday but said he will put an end to the feud, which the Chelsea manager has also said he will do.

When asked about Mourinho following Chelsea’s goalless draw at home to Leicester City on Saturday, Conte said: “I think… I said I’d stop.

“It’s the same for me [contempt]. I don’t know if he said this for me.
