Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he was impressed by the physical side to Mohamed Salah’s game after watching the forward impress in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.

Salah continued his fine start to the new campaign on Saturday as he scored Liverpool FC’s goal in the 65th minute at Anfield to put the home side ahead.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were eventually pegged back by the Blues as Willian came off the bench to net a late equaliser for the visitors.

Salah has been in superb form for Liverpool FC since signing for the Blues from Italian side Roma in the the summer.

The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and made two assists in 13 Premier League games for the Reds so fat this season.

But former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was impressed by a different side to Salah’s game after having watched him in action on Saturday.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Ferdinand said: “What stood out for me today [against Chelsea] was that his all-round game was so complete.

“You can roll the ball up to him and he’ll hold people off. He was holding Gary Cahill off for most of the first half.

“He seems to make the right decision at the right time, all the time. That’s what the top class players invariably do – and he’s doing that more than anyone in a Liverpool shirt.”

Salah will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Wednesday…
