Frank Lampard has admitted that he has been hugely impressed by Cesc Fabregas’ form for Chelsea this season and credited the midfielder with changing the game when he came on during the 1-1 draw at Liverpool FC on Saturday.
The 30-year-old midfielder struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge last season in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge.
However, since the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United in the summer, Fabregas has been enjoying a more sustained run in the Chelsea team.
Fabregas came off the bench with Chelsea trailing 1-0 to Liverpool FC at Anfield on Saturday and the Spaniard helped to inject some much needed creativity into the visitors’ performance.
Willian ended up scoring a late equaliser for Conte’s men as the Blues rescued a point from the game.
And Chelsea legend Lampard was hugely impressed by Fabregas’ impact and the change in his team’s play after he stepped onto the pitch.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Lampard said: “When Cesc Fabregas could get on the ball and get his head up, all the runners were going for him.
“The whole momentum of the game changed [after Fabregas came on].”
Fabregas will be hoping to feature from the start for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Wednesday night with a home clash against Swansea City.
The Blues are currently third in the table and 11 points…
