Manchester United are willing to use Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight in a potential deal to sign Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Armenia international has been linked with a potential exit at Old Trafford over the past couple of months or so following a difficult 2017-18 season so far.

Mkhitaryan made five assists in his opening three Premier League games but his confidence dipped culminating in an underwhelming performance in a 1-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho didn’t include the attacking midfielder in his starting line-up for almost two months before the playmaker returned to the Manchester United team for a goalless draw with Southampton on Boxing Day.

Manchester United have emerged as surprise candidates to sign Sanchez from Arsenal, despite the Chile international being linked with a move to Premier League leaders Manchester City throughout the season.

Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol confirmed that Manchester United have offered Mkhitaryan as part of a deal to sign Arsenal’s want-away striker Sanchez.

“Any United offer [for Sanchez] could be potentially more attractive for Arsenal because we’re told they’re willing to let Henrikh Mkhitaryan go to Arsenal as part of a swap deal for Sanchez,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Friday.
