Doncaster Rovers are ready to make a swoop for Burnley centre-back Tom Anderson this summer. According to recent reports, Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson have enquired about the availability of the Clarets defender in the summer. The English defender signed for the Rovers during the January transfer window on loan until the end of the season.
Anderson, who is out of contract in the summer, is currently sidelined due to a fractured cheekbone, an injury which he sustained in Doncaster’s clash versus Rotherham United in February. However, his performances have already caught the eye of Rovers manager Darren Ferguson. When asked to address Anderson’s future at the Keepmoat Stadium, he was recently quoted to have said, “I think so, yes,”
“I’ve spoken to Sean [Dyche] at Burnley and we’ll have another conversation. “Certainly I’ll need to bring in one centre-half over the summer if not two. That depends on what I do with the other ones that are here. “I know in my own mind what I’m going to do in the summer. The plans are set in stone.”
Anderson was born and brought up in Burnley and played for the Clarets in their youth ranks. The 24-year-old also had loan spells at Hyde, Halifax, Lincoln, Carlisle, Chesterfield before spending the first half of this campaign at Port Vale. He has featured in 30 matches so far this season, finding the back of the net two times across all competitions.
