They may have formed two thirds of the world’s deadliest striking trio for four years but apparently all is not well between Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The Brazilian swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain during the summer in a staggering €220million move.

As picked up by our colleagues at the Mirror , Spanish outlet Diario Gol report that – despite standing by Neymar in the furore that surrounded his departure – Messi is now unhappy with the way Neymar posed for pictures with Cristiano Ronaldo at FIFA’s The Best Awards in October.



Messi took a swipe at his former teammate after being awarded his fourth Golden Shoe award last week.

He claims Barcelona have become even better since Neymar left the club.

“Neymar’s departure has caused the way we play to change,” the Argentine told Marca . “We lost a great deal of offensive potential but it favoured us in a defensive sense.

“Currently we are most well-armed in the middle of the field, we have more balance and that makes us stronger defensively.”

His exit has paved the way for a more attacking role for Jordi Alba, who scored the equaliser against Valencia at the weekend.
