Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Mexican wonderkid Diego Lainez during the January transfer.
The 17-year-old winger has impressed at the U17’s World Cup – featuring against England at the group stage founding the net twice in four games in the tournament and is one of very few players to who managed to impress despite Mexico’s disappointing campaign.
Having reached the round of 16 stage they were eliminated by Iraq, although Lainez’ fine form hasn’t gone unnoticed and hosts of Europan club’s including Premier League giants Liverpool
According to the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp’s side were impressed by the 17-year-old’s performance in India and now tracking his progress in a view to making a switch to Anfield in the nearby future.
The same source suggests that Lainez is regarded as one of Mexico’s most exciting players and he made his competitive debut for Club America against Santos back in March and already featured for 73 minutes in a cup game vs. Cruz Azul after making a return from the international duty.
Despite Lainez’s exploits, it was a Merseyside Reds youngsters who was one of the players of the tournament. Rhian Brewster claimed the Golden Boot award scoring eight times in the competition– including one in against Spain in the final.
