Hearts fans get ready – there could be another talented teen on the verge of making an impact on the Tynecastle first team.

The Jambos are using the winter break in Valencia to recharge the batteries and introduce a host of youngsters and 17-year-old Andy Irving is the latest to catch the eye.

The former Berwick Rangers man scored a peach of a free-kick in the 1-1 friendly draw with Vitesse Arnhem and there’s a real feeling over here that this kid could be heading for the top.

The goal he scored came after 15-year-old Connor Smith earned a free-kick. Craig Levein ‘s babes are alive and kicking.

Irving, is joined by fellow teenage rising stars Christopher Hamilton, Dean Ritchie, Euan Henderson and Daniel Baur, who are all aiming to follow in the footsteps of sensation Harry Cochrane.

The 16-year-old has become a key player for the Tynecastle side after his sensational first-team breakthrough. There’s a palpable sense amongst these talented teens that they all reckon they can make the step up. You can even see older pros such as skipper Christophe Berra and Kyle Lafferty with an extra spring in their step.

Levein has managed to blend exciting young talent with senior pros and the former Scotland boss has been keeping a watchful eye on the latest batch of talented teens emerging in Gorgie.
