Manchester City’s move for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez could be about to fall through for one reason as Arsene Wenger’s side play hardball.
The Chilean has been set to move to Manchester for a number of months now and Man City were always thought to be the favourite.
There were even thoughts that a deal had been completed and that the player would move in the next couple of weeks.
Though, it emerged on Wednesday that Manchester United had joined the race and Liverpool had even contacted Arsenal.
That has certainly not helped Pep Guardiola’s side and the latest news today is that a deal could even be off.
City walking away
Reports on Friday afternoon have now suggested that Man City are prepared to walk away from a January deal.
That is because Arsenal are reportedly demanding £35million for the player who is out of contract in the summer.
Not only that, Man City would have to pay Sanchez’ agent £5million, taking the total up to £40m for a player who will be available for a free transfer in just over six months time.
Reports also suggest that the Cityzens would only be willing to commit to the deal if they can sign Alexis for £20m
Whether that is Manchester City playing hardball or not is yet to be seen but a deal could well be on the brink of collapse.
