Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has this evening taken aim at Red Devils striker Romelu Lukaku, following his petulant kick out at Brighton defender Gaëtan Bong at the weekend.

Scholes was speaking ahead of United’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Watford, with Lukaku’s recent performances a hot topic of discussion.
Following a red-hot start to life at Old Trafford in the wake of his big-money arrival from Everton during the summer, Belgian hitman Lukaku has cooled off over recent weeks, having managed just 1 goal in his last 11 appearances (after tonight) for the Red Devils.
The 24-year-old seemed to let his recent frustrations get the better of him at the weekend, during his side’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
In the buildup to his side’s opener (which turned out to be the only goal of the game), a whipped corner from the right saw Lukaku and Seagulls defender Gaëtan Bong wrestle for position in the visitors’ box.
Just before Ashley Young unleashed the deflected strike that put United ahead, Lukaku was spotted clearly kicking out at Bong, not once, but twice.
Though the incident was not spotted by officials at the time, many fans called for Lukaku to be handed a retrospective ban in the days that followed.
In the end, the former Everton star escaped punishment, much to the annoyance of opposing fanbases.
