Rangers FC fans will be delighted to hear that their most prized right-back, James Tavernier is close to signing a new deal with the Scottish Premiership outfit. Manager, Graeme Murty has already revealed that fresh terms were negotiated, which would tie down the services of the 26-year-old at the Ibrox Stadium for a long time. The Gers director of foot, Mark Allen is currently leading the negotiations and initial discussions have been completed on a positive note

Tavernier’s current contract is set to run until the summer of 2019 and the former Newcastle United youngster wishes to stay with the Light Blues. Interests from Sunderland and Reading were ruled out by the player himself as he was quoted,“I’m fully committed to Rangers. I’m still learning here and I’m still growing here. I’m still under contract for another 18 months so I’m really happy here. I came here to win trophies. Also, in all the Old Firm games I’ve played, I’ve only been on the winning side once so far (in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final). I want to win some more of them. I still have unfinished business as a Rangers player. It’s totally down to the club if they want to extend my contract. I’ll have to wait and see.”

These are redeeming qualities that every club fan would want to see from each one of their players. The fact that it is coming from one of the best right-backs in the league, currently, Murty and the Gers fans can rest easy over a bright future. Tavernier…
