Arsene Wenger has said Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal will be decided in the next 48 hours after the Chilean was left out of the squad that lost 2-1 at Bournemouth.

Sanchez did not travel to the south coast as Manchester rivals City and United duke it out for his signature, with Arsenal reluctantly opting to cash in as it becomes clear there is nothing they can do to convince the Chilean to sign an extension to a contract that expires at the end of the season.

As such Arsenal have reverted to the stance they took when City bid £60million on deadline day, that they will only sell once they have a deal in place for a replacement.
